Indigo is a natural plant-based hair dye that has been used for centuries. It is commonly used in conjunction with henna to create a variety of hair colours, ranging from dark brown to black. It does not contain any chemical, so it will not damage hair unlike with synthetic colours. It helps in nourishing the hair and scalp, making hair soft and shiny. Indigo is especially beneficial for covering gray hair. It can provide a natural-looking colour that blends well with your existing hair color, making the gray hairs less noticeable. Indigo is gentle on the scalp and is safe to use on sensitive skin. It does not cause any irritation or allergic reactions.

INGREDIENTS

Organic Indigo Powder

How to Apply

After washing out Henna, towel dry your hair.

Apply Indigo after 4-5 hours. If you did henna in the morning, you can do Indigo in the evening. It is best if you give only a short gap between ‘HENNA & INDIGO’.

If you give a longer gap, then the color fades faster.

Our Indigo powder is extremely fine, almost like fine dust. So if you have any kind of breathing related problem or dust allergy, please cover your mouth and nose with a handkerchief and then open the Indigo pack. Initially, take a little more quantity of Indigo than you took for Henna say a few spoons extra. This is because indigo paste is less creamy than henna paste and needs a little practice to use it properly and apply deep in the roots. So you may end up using more quantity in the beginning. If you have long hair and are using one full packet henna, then you will use one full packet of Indigo and cannot use a “few spoons extra” as recommended above unless you wish to open another packet of Indigo.

Four things you need to apply indigo –
1. A pair of Gloves.
2. Two teaspoon of regular white salt.
3. A shower cap.
4. A piece of cloth.

– Make the Indigo Paste and apply it immediately without any delay.
– Make sure to wear gloves to prevent blue stains on your hands and nails.

1. Take Indigo powder in a steel bowl.
2. IMPORTANT: For every 50 grams of Indigo powder, you will add 1 teaspoon of common salt (the white salt easily available in the kitchen). Salt helps in better adherence of Indigo. So if you are a male with ear length hair, you will add 1 teaspoon of salt to indigo powder and then add water to start making the paste. If you are  using one full 100 grams packet, you will add 2 teaspoons of salt. If you have mid back hair and you are using ¾th packet of Indigo, you will add 1.5 teaspoons of salt.
3. Mix the salt and indigo powders with a spoon.
4. Now start adding small quantities of slightly warm water.
5. The powder would just float and not mix immediately. Press down the powder into the water with spoon.
6. Keep mixing small amounts of water and press down with the spoon. Do not spend a lot of time stirring the indigo paste else it will start reacting with the air and would turn blue.
7. Now put on your gloves and start applying Indigo.
8. Use your hands to apply Indigo.
9. Part your hair from different places and apply the paste deep down in the roots, covering the entire scalp and hair lavishly.
10. Make sure to pick up very small quantities of Indigo paste and rub in the hair roots.
11. Concentrate mainly on the henna colored orange hair areas where you have grays.
12. Cover your whole head like you did for Henna and the remaining paste on the hair length.
13. Keep Indigo for 1.5-2 hours.
14. Wash off with plain water.
15. Use conditioner – Shampoo after 24-48 hours.
16. For best results and for a total chemical-free experience, use our Hair Pack.
17. The color keeps darkening and developing over the next 72 hours.
18. Avoid using any oil for the next 1 week.

You might find your hair dry and hard immediately after your first indigo application, but don’t be alarmed. It will turn to smooth and shiny within 24-48 hours. Indigo is astringent in nature so it is supposed to cause a little dryness on application. Within 24-48 hours, the dryness goes away as the body starts understanding the new product and produces enough sebum to keep the scalp hydrated.
